LIFE ON THE EDGE: BALCONY DECOR

  |     |   Decor

Patio.jpgSo it’s summer, and you want to enjoy it, right? Your balcony can offer the perfect place to relax after a long day of work — and it’s even better when it suits your tastes and décor. Here are a few essential things to keep in mind as you build what one resident called “a small outdoor slice of heaven.”

1) Keep it simple
Don’t use your balcony as a space for storing things that you don’t know what to do with, or for hanging clothes (unless you’re in a pinch). Remember the classic rule: if you haven’t used it in 6 months, chances are you don’t need it. Make your balcony feel simple and relaxed with a simple accent item, a small table, and a place for you — and a few friends — to kick back.

2) Oxygen therapy
There are plants and flowers suited for sun and shade, and choosing the right kind for your space can brighten any balcony. Bordering your space can make it feel intimate, but be careful not to place them directly above someone else’s living space — your downstairs neighbor probably won’t appreciate it if you’re watering their balcony every time you water your plants.

3) Plush pop
Outdoor pillows can liven up a living space easily – and outdoor fabrics make sure they won’t be ruined in case of unexpected showers. For ideas, try West Elm or Pottery Barn — both of which can be found nearby at Easton Town Center.

No matter your style, infusing your personal touch into your outdoor space will improve your luxury apartment that much more. Stay tuned for more decor and lifestyle tips from Preferred Living!
