Moving to a new apartment complex can be intimidating, especially if you’re moving to a new city and don’t know anyone. Our staff has put together a list of ways you can meet new people at any Preferred Living community so you can feel more at home.

Attend one of our socials

Preferred Living communities host social events monthly. Whether it’s a pool party or a gathering in the clubhouse, these are great ways to meet people in your complex in a friendly and relaxing setting.

To see what’s happening near you, visit your community’s website and click on the events tab.

Use the amenities

If your community has a pool, gym, billiards table or other amenities, talk to others using the same facilities as you. You clearly have at least one common interest, see if you share any others.

Be friendly with your neighbors

As you walk from your car to your apartment, be sure to say “hello” to any neighbors you pass. If you just moved in, knock on the door and introduce yourself. Who knows, maybe the person living next door is new to the area, too!

Follow our Facebook groups

We always share information about events happening in our complexes and the Columbus area. Comment on one of these posts and see who else in interested in the same events you are looking to attend.

Talk to people while walking your dog

If people ask you about your dog, seize the opportunity to learn more about the person. This is an easy way to start a conversation and build a relationship.
