The year may be winding down, but the holiday festivities are just getting started. Make the most of the most wonderful time of the year with these excursions and adventures.

Christmastime is in full swing, so take a break from the holiday hustle to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.

The Nutcracker: (now – Dec. 28) Follow Clara on her journey through the Land of Sweets as the holiday ballet returns to the Ohio Theatre once more. Performances run at various times on the weekends, with a Christmas Eve performance available at noon. 

Easton holiday carriage rides: (now – Dec. 29, Easton Town Center) Hitch a romantic ride for two or bring the whole family to explore the North District by horse-drawn carriage. Trips run Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person with children 15 and younger free of charge. 

Huntington Holiday Train: (now – Dec. 30) Located at the Main Library on Grant Street, the Huntington Holiday Train has been captivating people of all ages for nearly 30 years. The buildings are modeled after actual structures, and are built with natural materials like bark, moss, and pinecones.

Conservatory Aglow: (now – Jan. 4) Light the night at Conservatory Aglow as you explore interactive art exhibits, wander through rainbow tunnels, and bake gingerbread. Evening events run daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., including family holiday entertainment and candlelight dinners.

Ring In The New Year In Style

Looking for something different to do to ring in 2020? Check out some popular Columbus parties to celebrate the new decade.

First Night Columbus: (Dec. 31) Downtown Columbus will once again host the biggest New Year’s bash in town. First Night Columbus features live entertainment, COSI attractions, and fireworks in an affordable, substance-free environment. Presale tickets are available for $10 through Dec. 30 and $15 on New Year’s Eve.

Roaring 20s New Year’s Eve at The Big Bang: (Dec. 31 – Jan. 1) Party like it’s 1919 at The Big Bang’s Roaring 20’s New Year’s Eve bash. Throw on your flapper dresses and Fedoras and dance the Charleston as you watch the Dueling Pianos. Tickets start at $50.

Bristol Republics New Year’s Eve 2020 Celebration: (Dec. 31-Jan. 1) Tickets and table reservations are available for the biggest party in the Short North, but space is limited. Dance your way into the new year with live entertainment provided by Jason Owens.
