We bring our #GameDayAnyway series to a close with our final list of Columbus favorites. The Buckeyes won’t be facing that team up north, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the city’s shopping and restaurants. You may even find the perfect holiday gift.

Pregame

Short North Pint House: You’ll find Short North Pint House on North High Street in Italian Village. The restaurant and beer garden open at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy one of three Bloody Marys for brunch while you feast on a Pork Belly Benny or breakfast tacos.

The Cielo Café: Start your morning with a hot cup of coffee in a “serene environment that engulfs your senses.” The Cielo Café is located on OSU’s campus and is the perfect spot to grab brunch with friends. The menu includes hot and cold brew coffee, hearty breakfast sandwiches, and lots of bagels.

Smoked On High: Based out of a converted Victorian house in the Brewery District, Smoked On High is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Order brisket, ribs, pulled pork, or “Max ‘N Cheese” for carryout or catering, and the patio is still open.

Halftime

Hoffman’s Bookshop: Find a gift for the bookworm in your life at Hoffman’s Bookshop. Located on North High Street, Hoffman’s sells quality used and rare books of all genres. Search for your favorite author or subject in the shop’s online catalog. (Currently open by appointment only.)

Heritage Square Antique Mall: Whether you’re looking for jewelry, vintage décor, or artwork, you’re sure to find an interesting antique at Heritage Square Antique Mall. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Hausfrau Haven: For almost 50 years, Hausfrau Haven has been “wine and beer central” for German Village. Their motto is, if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they can get it. They are the largest boutique wine store in Columbus with a wide selection of labels and prices.

The Final Score

The Little Bar: Don’t let the name fool you. The Little Bar is big on personality and drink specials. Enjoy $3 drafts and wells from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 32-ounce buckets for $10 on Saturdays.

The Thurman Café: You’ll find plenty of mouth-watering sandwiches at The Thurman Café. Thurman’s famous burgers are 12 ounces of made-to-order deliciousness served with crunchy kettle chips. Try the Thurmanator if you’re up for a challenge. The burger has two 12-ounce patties, bacon, cheddar, sauteed onions, mushrooms, ham, and much more.

Basi Italia: The simple yet innovative fare of Basi Italia continues to draw regulars and attract newcomers. Enjoy Italian and Mediterranean inspired entrees like baked ricotta gnocchi, eggplant parmesan, and wild mushroom risotto. The staff is taking carry out and curbside pickup orders.
